Professional Tool Reviews for Pros
Worx has entered the high-voltage lawnmower game with the release of their Nitro 80V self-propelled 21-inch lawnmower. It is the first product Worx has released that uses four batteries together to achieve its rated voltage. Recommended for yards up to 1/2 acre, this electric lawnmower features a brushless motor and steel deck with mulching capability. Could this 80V mower compete with gas-powered models and fit the needs of homeowners with larger properties?
While the first 80V lawnmower released by Worx, it gets its voltage in an unusual way. Four 20V 5.0Ah batteries combine within a single 4A 4-port charger/power supply. This mounts directly onto the top of the Worx Nitro 80V lawnmower to deliver tons of power. As a result, it offers a lot more power and convenience when compared to lightweight mowers such as the Worx 40V 17-inch mower. Additionally, this self-propelled lawnmower features a system called Intellicut. This system monitors and adjusts the torque depending on the thickness of the grass, which maximizes battery runtime.
The Worx Nitro 80V self-propelled lawnmower features a two-step electric starting, which eliminates the complicated startup that sometimes comes with gas mowers. A quick-change mode lever lets the user switch between mulching and bagging modes as needed. You never have to remove a mulch plug.
There is a 2-bushel grass bag as well as a side discharge chute, so you have multiple options when it comes to bagging vs. mulching. It also comes with a fully collapsable handle for compact storage.
The Worx Nitro 80V self-propelled 21-inch lawnmower is available online directly from the company, or at retailers such as The Home Depot and Lowe’s. It retails starting at $679. It is covered by a 5-year limited warranty.
